![]() Now that you have gotten your braces, it does not mean that you get to take a break from coming to see us! We want to help you move through this transition quickly and effectively, so here are some things we need to let you know. Keep BrushingEven though it may feel a little uncomfortable at first and may take some relearning, you need to continue to brush your teeth at least twice per day and floss regularly. With braces, we suggest that you brush after every meal to help remove any food particles that may get stuck in and around your braces. Begin by removing any elastic bands or removable pieces of your braces and then gently brush all of the wires. Starting at the top and moving down, brush each tooth with care. When it comes to flossing, you may need to purchase unwaxed floss and thread it under the main wire of your braces before gently flossing in between your two teeth. This can be time consuming, but believe us, it is worth it! Finally, do not skip your cleanings. Now, more than ever, you need a little extra help to make sure that there is not any extra tartar or plaque buildup in your mouth. Not only in the usual places like the hard to reach molars, in between your teeth and under the gum line, but also around any of the places where the braces attach to your teeth. We are so happy for you that you are choosing to correct your smile. Give us a call today and schedule your next cleaning. |
