How to Eat When You Wear Invisalign AlignersMetal braces are nefarious for diet restrictions that often cause patients to seek out alternative options that might be more practical. Braces require intimate care to remove food particles as well.

But not all hope is lost. Using Invisalign aligners allows you to continue eating your popcorn, your apples, whole, and even your taffy candy.

With Invisalign, our orthodontists will help you go through the specific details of properly caring for your aligners, as well as proper tooth care when not wearing them. In the meantime, here's how you can get by at mealtimes.

Is It Safe to Eat with My Aligners?

Our new patient's often ask us about eating with their aligners on and we always tell them the same thing. “Take them out”. We know it can be a bit ritualistic to take them out each time you want to pop something in your mouth, but in order to properly care for your aligners, it is best If you avoid eating in them at all.

Food sitting against your teeth trapped in a plastic container is a tooth decay nightmare waiting to happen. You want to avoid putting yourself at risk. You can drink water while wearing your aligners; there's nothing wrong with that. Do not try to drink anything hot, any type of pop, or any type of sweet drinks without first, taking the aligners out.

The ideal feature of Invisalign is that they are removable. They aren't attached to your teeth, and you can take them out when you want to enjoy your favorite snack. Brush your teeth promptly after each meal, and if that is not possible, remove the aligners and rinse your mouth out with water.

Contact us today for a consultation and we can show you how Invisalign aligners can bring that beautiful smile back with the least amount of disruption to your lifestyle.
